Today getting out of the house was all about THE SKIRT....
(Tessa has been a struggle lately and clothes have been a nightmare, fortunately this skirt did the trick...as it has been doing the last few days)
Cinnamon rolls at Duffy's before school...

Sunday
How good can a Sunday be...
After 4 hours of sleep saturday night- see Tessa post below. Brian and I woke up with pretty low Sunday expectations. We didn't want to fight the battle with Tessa's clothes so we figured an at home day was what it would be...
But things were different...Tessa put on clothes, the boys ate a good breakfast, Lexi was prefect, grandparents came over and we were off!
First stop: Four Mile Historical Park Pumpkin Festival with Granny, Pappy, Missy and Grandpa!
The grandpas watched Lexi on the ground and the rest of us went on a stage coach ride. Bumpity...Bumpity....Bumpity...how did they do it back then?

And then we were off to our favorite Sunday Brunch location, Elways
Table for 10....
And there were even lots of smiles!

Perfect Meal to Celebrate...Happy Birthday Pappy!!

We ended the day with Aunite and a sunday diner and even got to talk to Auntie ZZ via Skype...perfect family day!

Story Time
The power of books. We love books in our house. They are by far the best entertainment we have. We spend a lot of timing reading, especailly before nap and bedtime. A new book is always a special gift and something all 4 kids can enjoy!
Granny and Pappy have been visiting since Monday. Things have been a little hectic, especailly with Tessa, but this was a nice moment of calm.

Oh Tessa...
...if only you could let us know!
Our sweet little Tessa has been giving us a run for our money! Last Tuesday Tessa had her first official melt down. Think: arms flailing, huge tears, nothing anyone says can stop me tantrum. We knew that she was exploring her independence in Vail, but when we came home it was a different story. For the last 5 days she has decided she does not want to wear clothes (she spent the majority of her parent-tot class topless) and does not want to sleep in her crib, both things we have never struggled with.
We miss the sweet girl that walked herself up to bed at 6:30! We knew it wouldn't last forever but here's to hoping that this is just a short phase!

Lexi Lou
We ♥ Lexi...

She is growing up too fast!! Our baby in almost 4 months...she is full of personality and as sweet as ever. Her smiles have a way of catching your attention from across the room as you walk by. Her brothers love to play with her and make her smile and laugh. Tessa loves to help take care of her. She isn't quite making it through the night yet, but it is a small price to pay for a baby that is so perfect during the day!

Eating Party
....aka Picnic
Here is how we arrived at the eating party...
On the way home from picking the boys up at school I needed to get some milk at the store. (on the menu: yummy baked rigatoni...auntie, wish you were closer to share with us!)
How do you successfully take two unwilling, over-tired, cranky 3 year old boys to the grocery store? In our case, usually a little bribery.
In exchange for well behaved boys, I offered steer your own cart and pick your own treat at Sunflower.
Boys' choice: chocolate milk and trail mix.
So on the way home I told them they could have their chocolate milk outside, kind of like a picnic ...
Eating party in place of nap = happy
I better hurry and drink this before mom changes her mind...chocolate milk replacing nap time...wow!
Who am I to deny the eating party if it creates smiles like this...

Zach (in an over-tired whine): "But, I don't want a picnic..." and then the waterworks.
Mom "Why don't you want to eat outside?"
Zach "Well, I don't want a picnic...can we have an eating party?" Then to Andrew (now very enthusiastically) "Andrew, can we have a picnic but call it an eating party? We can have an eating party outside and it will be so much fun!" ....and so on trying to convince Andrew.
Andrew "Ok, lets have an eating party"
Zach to Mom "Andrew would really like to have an eating party, he would really love to have an eating party."
Sometimes I just love to listen to their interactions. It is amazing how they can turn each others moods around just by being there for each other! Having a twin must be so cool.
